Working Mother Book - Arriving Soon!

Rachel will tell you in no uncertain terms that she never set out to write a book.

But it turns out, that’s exactly what she did.

In her commitment to her coaching practise, she spent many, many, hours behind closed doors with soon to be and new working parents. Mums, dads, parents going through the adoption process, biological and non-biological parents.

As she heard their stories, and supported the needs of the parents she worked with, she noticed something unexpected. Patterns in the process of the parental transition, the recognition and understanding of which helped her to help her clients even more effectively. These patterns were confirmed across hundreds of hours of coaching, and many more of discussion with colleagues.  Eventually they became articulated in Motion Learning’s Parental Transition Coaching Model.

Across all these years and hours of work, Rachel noticed something else.

This information was being shared effectively with line managers, people representatives and senior leaders. But it wasn’t necessarily reaching the people it could be most beneficial for… the working parents themselves. And in particular, the highest percentage of working parents who suffer greatly professionally during this life period – the working mothers.

So, put simply, this is why she had to write a book; to give everyday working mothers access to information that could be of benefit to them for the price of a paperback.

Women can buy it for themselves, people can buy it for friends, family and colleagues who either are working mothers themselves, or who know one.

Rachel likes to think the book found her. She definitely didn’t go searching for it, but now it’s nearly on our shelves she’s really pleased it did. If it helps just 100 working parents, then it will be a job well done.

If you want to hear Rachel share a behind-the-scenes look at the principles inside the book and what reader’s can expect to gain from the insights and coaching exercises featured within it, join her at the launch on Friday 6th September at 1pm!

Rachel will also be joined by a very special guest interviewer.

Sophie Brendel is another successful working mother, who has navigated motherhood alongside demanding senior leadership roles in brands such as the V&A, the BBC and Reuters.
