What is Coach Community?

As we look to the future at Motion Learning, one of the things we’re most excited about is Coach Community.

For some years we’ve been thinking and looking for ways to support our community of coaches, as well as others more widely.

It’s clear that there are many new coaches entering the profession, but not everyone finds it easy to build a business, however talented they may be.

It’s also apparent that there is a lack of accessible coaching for a wide range of people who would benefit from it. We don’t believe everyone needs a coach, but we do believe everyone should be able to access a coach when they need one. And often this is not the case.

We wanted to do something about this, and then, the idea hit us!

Why not connect coaches and those needing coaching in a simple, effective, mutually beneficial arrangement?  From there, Coach Community was born, in 2021.

Coach Community is dedicated to supporting communities by making coaching accessible to individuals who may not otherwise access it, and to developing coaches through building their confidence, expertise and professional standing. It works by connecting coaches to charitable organisations, with managers who would benefit from coaching.

To date we’ve run two successful pilot intakes.  So far Coach Community has:

  • Provided nearly 50 charity leaders with 9 months of professional coaching support which they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to access and fund

  • Helped 12 fantastic recently qualified coaches take further steps into the profession by providing them with accreditation hours, and a ready-made client list

Now this is something we’re really proud of!

And now our plan is to formalise Coach Community as a separate not-for-profit entity so it can support more and more people over the years to come.

This makes us proud and excited, and has the potential to keep us busy for another 20 years!

We’ll be sharing more news about Coach Community as we progress towards its formal set up.  In the mentime, you can find out more about it via www.coachcommunity.org
